THE STORY

Aren’t communities supposed to buttress instability and harm?

Joe placed his trust in public structures.

It felt like the right thing to do.

When he tries to remain stoic after a zero-tolerance-policy infraction leads to the suspension of his son, his feisty wife Janis has other ideas. As if the biblical epic of Job returned for an encore in modern times, the elementary school incident becomes the catalyst to a storm of bureaucratic malfeasance.

Was government incompetence on autopilot?

Were his misfortunes designed in Hades?

Or the DMV?

Inspired by the tenacity of his spouse, and the loyalty of his friends, can an average citizen become an improbable hero?

Fans of Randian and Orwellian political intrigue and the biting humor of Carl Hiaasen will be thrust into a tale so similar to actual events it’s part maddening, part entertaining, but ultimately inspiring.

Remember, you are Joe Schmo.

WHO IS JOE SCHMO?

Joe Winston is just a regular schmo.  He has a great job, a happy marriage, two kids, a house in a small town and he’s living the American dream. Then 2016 happened and his life became a living hell, the likes of which haven’t occurred since the biblical days of Job.

The one quality that had always served Joe well was his near mythical optimism.  It was that along with his personal magnetism and charisma that made everyone love him. He believed everything worked out for the best as long as you were a good person.  Confrontation and arguments were simply not his thing.

When Joe’s life descends into chaos, Joe’e entire belief system is called into question.  Fortunately, his wife Janis is the type who suffers no fools and believes in kicking ass and taking names before the dust settles.
